The journey to South East Asia begins!
The flight with Turkish Aerlines went well (actually my first real flight if I omit a sightseeing flight in Czech Republic 10 years ago). A lot of food, nice seat next to the window and even no lugguge got lost on the way.
But lets start from the beginning. After the flight lasting less than 3 hours landed in Istambul, I had an opportunity to walk around the city. During 4 hours I wandered from the airport to the city centre, walking towards Sultanahmed mosque (where I even glanced into) and Hagia Sofia. I watched people spreading sheets on the grass and having a picknick, the lawn packed with shrouded muslims. Then I headed through a park and by the waterfront to an Ataturk two storey bridge with a bottom floor full of restaurants offering fish, just caught by the fishermen standing above on the sidewalk. Then slowly back to the airport...
Turkish reputation of succesful businessmen couldn´t be more true. On my way I encountered a shoe polisher whom I passed his dropped brush. He insisted to polish my shoes in gratitude. As it turned out after he ended, the service somehow wasn´t free anymore! After that, a boy who didn´t even know where Czech Republic is (As they want to join European Union, they should at least know their members!) tried to sell me a roasted corn twice as expensive as his price sign showed. The food was delicious and super cheap, as I avoided meaningless restaurants for tourists. Of course, I also had to try a kebab. On top of that, a man pretending to ask for a time began a conversation and wanted me to visit his café, but he turned out to be a dealer selling weed.
Despite all the adventure, I made it to the airport with a good time reserve and after another meal in plane and watching a Hobit movie, I fell asleep.
The next day after 12 hours of sleeping, watching entertaining screen or eating, the plane finally landed in Changi airport, Singapore. After filling in a lenghty immigration form and collecting my luggage, I was prepared to go to NUS University town to find my accomodation. Unfortunatelly, my singaporian friend Andre got suddenly ill, so I decided to accept a challenge and make it by myself without the help of taxi. After a lenghty struggle and asking numerous singaporeans who were very kind but mostly unable to show the right direction, I arrived at night to Graduates Residence and accomodated myself.
